Welcome to my Blog

Hi, my name is Sonya and I use the pen name Sonya Monty. To be upfront and honest, starting a blog is the last thing that I would have thought I'd be doing. I generally avoid putting myself out there. But here I am, a little apprehensive, but excited to get into this.

Apprehensive, because I'm anticipating that the ride might be a bit of a rollercoaster ahead (for me) and I hope that readers will bear with me while I learn the 'how'.

The 'why' on the other is simply that I have a desire to encourage others, particularly during difficult times. My day-to-day job in counselling connects me with those who are hurting regularly and from my own lived experiences I understand the pressures that we all face doing life. My foundation for coping has been my relationship with God. It's the well I draw from for refreshment and strength to face each day. I'm hoping this space will be one where others can find connection, conversation, and refreshment as I share a sprinkling of the love, hope, encouragement, and perhaps inspiration that I have received. I look forward to engaging with whoever is interested in coming along for the ride, or in joining me for a just a brief time. Ultimately, I hope my words will inspire, signpost, and kindle in you, your own deepening connection to The source of life.

Along the way there'll be a dash of ramblings about life, an occasional favourite recipe, some gardening thoughts, a smattering of photos (a long-enjoyed passion), and an occasional quilt-making expedition. To get the ball rolling there is one verse which has encouraged me as I start this adventure of blogging,

The Lord God has given Me the tongue of a disciple and of one who is taught, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. He wakens Me morning by morning; He wakens My ear to hear as a disciple [as one who is taught]." (Isaiah 50:4 AMPC)
